I start each of my books with an idea, which can come from anything that's inspiring me. Then, I put those ideas together to come up with a chapter-by-chapter outline of what's going to happen throughout the book. Next step is the first draft, where I write out the actual chapter outlines. After that, I move on to editing for the second draft, where I not only look for things like grammar and syntax but also story structure, plot points, pacing, character development, etc. Next, I send the book to a proofreader/editor, who looks over the book with fresh eyes. Then I take a final look at the book with another draft before I determine that the manuscript is finished. The next step after that is formatting, where I lay out the digital and print interiors using Affinity Publisher. Sometimes I design the covers myself, depending on what the cover calls for, but usually I hire an illustrator to work on that. Once they get the cover back to me, I put it all together and upload it to the various retailer platforms and begin marketing.
